Treasury data integrity and reconciliation testing
Independent testing of cash positions, bank-statement loads, deal valuations, and the reconciliations that feed the general ledger.
Typically 2–3 weeks · Financial controllers and treasury operations
A TMS that cannot be tied to the bank and the ledger is a reporting tool, not a control environment. We reperform a slice of cash positions, statement loads, and deal valuations using the same source files the application used, then compare our result with what the screen showed on that day.
Mapping tables, value-date logic, nostro versus ledger accounts, and stale break items are the usual sources of drift. We also look at who can force a match, who can suppress a break, and whether those actions leave an audit trail that a reviewer can follow six months later.
Findings are written as data issues, not software defects. Where the application is doing what it was told and the instruction was wrong, we say so.
What the work usually includes
- Reperformance of selected cash-position and liquidity reports
- Bank-statement import completeness and mapping checks
- Deal and hedge-valuation tie-outs on a sample basis
- Break-item ageing and override review
